Luton Town have completed the permanent signing of midfielder Kasey Palmer from Hull City after his impressive loan spell at Kenilworth Road last season.
The 29-year-old quickly became a fans’ favourite after arriving in January, scoring eight goals in 23 appearances and playing a huge part in one of the club’s most memorable campaigns in recent years.
Palmer helped Jack Wilshere’s side lift the EFL Trophy at Wembley before narrowly missing out on the League One play-offs, with the Hatters finishing seventh.
Now, he’s back for good.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Palmer admitted returning to Luton always felt like the right move.
“I’ve never really been away,” he joked after the deal was confirmed.
“I loved every minute of my time here last season. The manager, the staff, the players and the fans were brilliant with me from day one. It felt like home, so I’m delighted to be back.”
It’s easy to see why supporters were hoping the move would happen. Palmer brought creativity, energy and plenty of quality to Luton’s midfield, regularly popping up with important goals and moments that helped drive the team forward.
Manager Jack Wilshere clearly saw enough during the loan spell to make bringing him back a priority this summer, and securing the Jamaica international is another positive step as the Hatters look to build on last season’s progress.
Palmer’s career has taken him through Chelsea’s academy before spells with Bristol City, Coventry City and Hull City, giving him plenty of experience to call upon. At Luton, though, he seems to have found a place where he feels at home.
With pre-season well underway, Hatters fans will be excited to see Palmer back in orange and ready to make an impact once again.
If his performances from last season are anything to go by, there should be plenty more memorable moments to come at Kenilworth Road.
