Everton have confirmed the signing of experienced midfielder Christian Norgaard from Arsenal on a two-year contract for an undisclosed fee.
The Denmark international, 32, is reported to have joined the Toffees in a deal worth around £7 million, ending his short spell at the Emirates after just one season.
Norgaard arrived at Arsenal from Brentford for £15 million last summer but struggled for regular first-team football. He made 20 appearances across all competitions during the 2025-26 campaign, including seven Premier League outings, as Mikel Arteta’s side lifted their first league title in 22 years.
The midfielder was omitted from Arsenal’s squad for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Real Betis, fuelling speculation over his move to Merseyside.
Everton have been busy strengthening their squad this summer, with Hayden Hackney arriving from Middlesbrough in a £16.5 million deal, while winger Tyrique George completed an £18 million switch from Chelsea after an impressive loan spell at Goodison Park.
Speaking after completing his move, Norgaard revealed David Moyes played a key role in convincing him to join the club.
“I was very intrigued by the project after speaking with the manager,” Norgaard said. “Coming here just makes that feeling even stronger. I think the club is moving in the right direction, and last season proved that. Everton were a very difficult team to play against.”
Before joining Arsenal, Norgaard enjoyed a hugely successful six-year spell at Brentford, making 196 appearances and captaining the Bees during their rise in the Premier League.
Moyes has targeted experienced reinforcements following the departures of club captain Seamus Coleman and veteran midfielder Idrissa Gueye. Everton have also been dealt a setback with James Garner expected to miss the start of the new Premier League season after undergoing groin surgery.
The Toffees begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday, 22 August, with Norgaard expected to be in contention for his debut.
