Nicolas Jackson Double Sends Manchester City Crashing to Defeat at Villa Park

Manchester City’s perfect Premier League start has finally come crashing down — and Nicolas Jackson was the man holding the wrecking ball.

Aston Villa produced a huge performance at Villa Park to beat Manchester City 2-1, with Jackson grabbing both goals and leaving City’s previously perfect league record in tatters.

City arrived with seven straight Premier League wins under their belt.

Villa clearly didn’t read the script.

Jackson strikes early

The hosts made the dream start after just six minutes.

A mistake from City allowed Villa to pounce, and Jackson showed the sort of composure you’d expect from someone who had absolutely no interest in making life easy for Enzo Maresca’s side.

1-0 Villa.

City responded with plenty of possession and pressure, but Villa continued to look dangerous whenever they broke forward.

Then came the second half.

Haaland gets City back in it

Erling Haaland wasn’t about to let Villa have everything their own way.

The Norwegian striker rose to meet a cross from Iliman Ndiaye and powered a header beyond Villa goalkeeper Zyon Suzuki to make it 1-1.

Game on.

Or so City thought.

Jackson has the last laugh

Just eight minutes later, Jackson popped up again.

A brilliant move involving substitute Ibrahim Mbaye eventually found Jackson, who finished to restore Villa’s lead and complete his double.

City pushed.

Villa defended.

The nerves increased.

And suddenly Manchester City’s perfect league record was hanging by a thread.

Villa goalkeeper Suzuki produced several important saves as City searched for another equaliser, while the hosts threw themselves in front of everything that came their way.

City finally beaten

For City, it’s a first Premier League defeat after seven consecutive victories.

For Villa, it’s another huge result against a strong Man city side — and another reminder that Villa Park has become a rather uncomfortable place for Manchester City.

Jackson gets the headlines.

Haaland got on the scoresheet.

But ultimately, Villa got the three points and City got their first taste of defeat.

And judging by the celebrations at Villa Park…

they enjoyed every single minute of it. 😏

Aston Villa 2-1 Manchester City

Goals: Nicolas Jackson 6′, 60′ | Erling Haaland 52′
