Arsenal are set to complete the signing of goalkeeper Illan Meslier on a free transfer after reaching an agreement with the former Leeds United shot-stopper.
The Gunners have moved quickly to secure the 26-year-old’s signature after he became available following the expiry of his contract at Elland Road.
Meslier and his representatives were at Arsenal’s training ground in Hertfordshire on Tuesday to finalise the remaining details of the transfer and complete his medical ahead of the move.
Illan Meslier Set for Arsenal Move
Arsenal’s interest in Meslier emerged at the end of June, and the Premier League club have now wrapped up a deal to bring the French goalkeeper to the Emirates Stadium.
Meslier leaves Leeds United after losing his place as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and will join Arsenal as a free agent following the end of his contract.
The move represents an experienced addition to Mikel Arteta’s goalkeeping department ahead of the new Premier League season.

As things stand, Meslier is expected to begin the season as Arsenal’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Raya and Arrizabalaga.
However, should Arrizabalaga leave before the transfer window closes, Meslier would be in line to move up the pecking order and become Raya’s deputy.

Meslier’s arrival is also expected to have an impact on Arsenal’s younger goalkeepers.
Highly-rated teenager Tommy Setford is now expected to leave the club on loan this summer in search of regular first-team football, with Arsenal keen for the youngster to continue his development.
