Stockport County have completed the signing of Bristol City midfielder Josh Stokes on a loan deal until the end of the season, boosting their midfield options ahead of the run-in.
The 21-year-old spent last season on loan with Cambridge United in League One, gaining valuable experience at senior level. This season, Stokes has featured twice for Bristol City in the Carabao Cup, further showcasing his development.
Stokes could make his Stockport debut in Saturday’s fixture against Huddersfield Town, as the Hatters look to build momentum.
Stockport manager Dave Challinor praised the midfielder’s suitability for the club after completing the deal.
“He feels like a player who’s a really good fit for this football club and I have no doubts that he’ll show that,” Challinor told the club’s official website.
The move provides Stokes with the opportunity for regular first-team football, while Stockport gain a young, energetic midfielder for the remainder of the season.
