Antoine Semenyo is closing in on a high-profile move to Manchester City, with the Bournemouth winger expected to undergo a medical examination before the transfer is finalised.
City have reportedly agreed to trigger Semenyo’s £65 million release clause, which must be activated by 10 January, putting the Premier League champions in pole position to secure his signature.
The Ghana international is scheduled to complete his medical after Bournemouth’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening (19:30 GMT). The match could prove to be his final appearance for the Cherries amid growing transfer speculation.
Despite strong interest from several top clubs — including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham — Manchester City are the only club to have made formal contact with Bournemouth, giving them a clear advantage in negotiations.
Speaking ahead of the Spurs fixture, Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola suggested Semenyo’s departure could be imminent, while stopping short of confirming the deal.
“I think it could be the last game,” Iraola said.
“That is my personal opinion, but there is nothing agreed and nothing signed. He is our player right now, and I hope it continues.”
Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers this season, registering nine goals and three assists across all competitions. Iraola admitted the winger would be extremely difficult to replace, describing him as “almost impossible to replace” due to his impact and consistency.
If completed, Semenyo’s move would represent one of the largest January transfers and a significant attacking reinforcement for Pep Guardiola’s side.
